OUTRUN THE FBI 5K -- SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION
Raising funds to SHUT DOWN Internet predators!

OUTRUN THE FBI 5K

Where else can you outrun an officer of the law for a worthy cause? Outrun the FBI 5K is a unique run/walk
where participants race against FBI agents for special prizes. This event raises money to benefit community
outreach programs sponsored by the FBI Citizens’ Academy (FBICA). This year’s event will
fund state-wide programs organized by the FBICA to shut down Internet predators. Your donation will help
fight this serious threat to our children’s safety that is growing at an alarming rate. This inaugural event is expected
to attract upwards of 250 runners and walkers of all ages from Phoenix, Tucson and Northern Arizona, as well
as hundreds of volunteers and spectators.

Outrun the FBI 5K has the support of the Phoenix Division of the FBI, which will offer unique activities during an outstanding post-race family festival. Post-event fun and educational activities will include:

• Interactive FBI demonstrations
• Informative displays and exhibits
• Face painting and other family-friendly activities
• Lively music and delicious food

The event will be held at Steele Indian School Park – a 75-acre oasis in central Phoenix that boasts a lake, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, a dog park, three pre-World War II historical buildings, and an entry garden featuring a spiraling contemplation trail with Native American poems etched into the concrete. Native desert plants adorn the path as it winds its way toward a cistern at the end of the trail.

HELP SHUT DOWN INTERNET PREDATORS AND PROTECT OUR CHILDREN

Through your sponsorship and participation in the 2008 Outrun the FBI 5K, you are helping the Arizona FBI Citizens’ Academy fund Internet safety programs designed to protect our children from Internet predators. As technology advances and access to computers is common, the risks for our children to be victimized increase. There are far too many predators prowling in chat rooms and legitimate Internet sites who are looking for an innocent child they can sexually exploit either with pornography or with face-to-face contact. Their methods to contact your child and harm him or her either emotionally or physically are shrewd and devious. Even with precautions about not giving out personal information, these predators trick, cajole and lull the best of children into revealing aspects of their life that lead the predator right to your home. Parental vigilance is needed and parents need the information and tools to keep their children safe. The FBICA Sexual Predator Initiative provides the facts and resources needed to take action.

ABOUT THE FBI CITIZENS’ ACADEMY

Founded as a 501c3 charitable organization, the FBICA supports FBI priority programs within the community and supports the agents and staff of the FBI. Academy graduates and alumni are ambassadors within their communities who provide general information about the FBI to residents throughout the state. The FBI Citizens’ Academy sponsors an annual class of individuals to complete an 8 to 10 week program conducted by FBI agents and support staff. Since 1993 when former Special-Agent-in-Charge James Ahearn, Phoenix Division, and a group of civic-minded individuals founded the FBI Citizens’ Academy, the organization has grown nationwide.
